Inspiring Change // Portland Wedding Photographers

So I’ve said this enough this summer “new things here at Weeno!” and finally I feel like we are ready to share it with you. Its been exciting, and a little scary to come to this point. I want to share with you our story.

Some of you know that my mom passed away in 2011. She left me with wanting more out of my life, and wanting to actually do something meaningful with my life. Its interesting, because never did I imagine this would mean in my business. I wrote a blog post a few days later, and explained that I wanted to go to India, spread my moms ash’s, and take photos for a non profit. The money came pouring in. It felt good that I was doing something good in my moms name.

I went to India and came home feeling like my pictures actually meant something.

Life went on. Kellen and I moved to Portland. In March I had a sort of  “what am I doing with my life!?!” moment. I was working at starbucks part time, plus trying to get this business going here in Portland. And to be honest, I only had 2 Weeno Weddings. We are lucky that we work with a collaborative, and shot so much with them this summer! Its been amazing… but I want my own business to flourish. So I had to lay it out and ask myself what I really wanted. What really fed my soul? India. My photos in India FED MY SOUL. I knew that my photos were doing something, but how does wedding photography change those ladies lives? It doesn’t. Is wedding photography something I really want to do?

So I prayed… I journaled. Nothing. I went to go get ready for my day and while brushing my teeth it came…. GIVE 10% using your business. !?!  There it was. My moment. It was such DUH! moment, but such a inspired moment. I called Kellen, crying. I knew that this is what we were supposed to do, and I would make it happen no matter how much work it took.

The idea is so simple.

Book a session // Give 10% of that session to someone in need.

Make your photography mean something.. inspire people to change their thinking.

So. I prayed more.

Now we’ve teamed up with 4 non profits. Who we SO believe in. We KNOW that they are doing work, and actually are making a DIFFERENCE in the world. We know this because we have grown relationships with them, we have had meetings, and we have researched like mad to find the best ones.

SO HERE IT IS /// SIMPLICITY

INSPIRING CHANGE..

You book a session, and 10% of your session goes to 1 of the 4 non profits of YOUR choice, in YOUR name. We are not getting the credit or tax deduction. Its about you, its about them, and ultimately its about giving back and taking care of our people. Giving education, providing food, support, love. Its about changing the world through photos.

We believe we are called to give, love, and take care of those in need. With each wedding we are changing peoples lives. Literally.

Lets be inspired together to look at life differently, lets use things that aren’t normally about giving, and make them about giving. This plan, this hope that we can change peoples lives through photography can only work with you. We can only work if we book work, and we believe that its through peoples hope that this world can change, that they will share this post with everyone. I want this to be a group effort, and not just a “me” effort. It will only work, the world will only change if you help, if I help, so lets take stand together and INSPIRE CHANGE.
