Care India // Inspiring Change

First off. Can I say thank you? You all have been so supportive. Like, beyond what I ever expected. I think the link the the blog last week was shared over 25 times! Wow! Thank you for your support, sharing, and truly believing that we can do this. I’m now ending my second week of self employment and granted I’m still scared I’m not as scared because I’ve put it all in Gods hands and thats all I can do.  I’m excited for this new adventure! But this is not what this blog is about….

I want to make every Friday an ode to the non-profits we are working with. For the first 4 weeks I will share with you who the non-profit is, what they do, and why I chose them. Hopefully then you can learn about them, and be inspired.

The first is Care India.

You can find them at http://careindiainc.org

When my mom died I got to go to India. It was the trip that changed my life, my view, and gave a sense of hope. They are an amazing organization that an Indian man started, he saw a need in his country and now is fulfilling it. Its has great values and really teaches what it is to love. They have many different things they work with, but what I chose was the widows. When I was there my heart connected with these ladies and I couldn’t get them out of my head, and I still can’t.

I remember I had them in a line, and I was taking photos of them. It hit me that these women had been abandon by their own families, by their own kids and they were left for dead. I thought of my family, my recently widowed aunt who I loved so much. I couldn’t image what it would be like to be in a situation like that. I was also so grateful to take their photo. I started tearing up, and I had a translator come and help me talk to these ladies. You see, I was the only women on this trip. I travelled with 3 guys, and there were only men helping. I connected with them, I told them thank you, I told them that I loved them, that I thought they were worth something and that they were some of the most gorgeous women I have ever met. There was so much life in their eyes. Hurt, pain, love, happiness. They cried, and I cried. It was some of the most rewarding photos I have ever taken.

Care India gives them equivalent of about $10 USD to these ladies a month. That means for 1 month they get one good meal a day and pay for some of their medications. $10! TEN DOLLARS! A MONTH!  Also, I gave these ladies their $10. So I promise they get it. I handed it to them personally. Care India meets them once a month gives the ladies their money, loves on them, mentors them, and feeds them an amazing meal. These women need the love, need the support, need the money and Care India meet all of those needs and so much more. So, for us to give them 10% of a wedding, of a family session. Can you imagine how many women that will feed? How that will impact one persons life? Its amazing, and I’m so happy to be helping support these women and make them feel honored, cared for, and loved.
