Portraits // Sellwood Waterfront // Portland // Portrait Photographer

Sometimes when my life gets busy, I start shooting every weekend and everything just turns to work. I’ve learned that I must MUST do personal projects when I start to get overwhelmed, which is funny because usually it just creates more editing but somehow it just feeds my soul and revives the creativity in me. One day while taking the pups to the sellwood dog park I noticed this part that I’d never seen before. I’d never seen it before because the water usually isn’t that high, and I loved it! I knew I had to do a shoot there, and I knew it had to be that week before the water levels went down.

So I called up my friend Rachel Jacobson, she’s gorgeous, oh so amazing, and well I knew I wanted to take her portraits. I picked her up on one hot sunny day and we headed down to the river. She was such a trooper and stood in the cold water, and stood on rocks and made it all look so pretty. Speaking of pretty, this girl does some amazing work herself. She started her own calligraphy business, and if you ever need anything in calligraphy or anything beautiful call this girl up! She’s AMAZZZING!

After doing this shoot, I felt so much better. There were no clients, there were no expectations and I could really just do whatever I wanted. I played with light differently, I pushed myself and in the end I was so happy I did. So enjoy my little personal project and don’t forget to go check out Rachels work!

p.s. the dress is not her dress. I bought it at a thrift store and have been doing friends portraits in it. If your interested in getting your photos done it, HIT ME UP!
